We sat with our wine
And contemplated the world
All the things that had happened
Since we were boy and girl
We thought about happy times and sad times
Joyous times and grief
We talked about enduring pain
And we talked about relief
We laughed at some memories
And cried at some others
We talked about fathers
We talked about mothers
We decided we didn't want to know
What tomorrow would bring
Whether the cold Winter
Would be followed by warm Spring
Would the skies be blue
Or would we get rain
We just drank some more wine
And filled our glasses again
